Over the weekend, WSPC member Richard “Tripp” Logan from L&S Pharmacy in Charleston, Missouri, received the 2024 NCPA Willard B. Simmons Independent Pharmacist of the Year Award during the NCPA Annual Convention held in Columbus, Ohio.
This award, named in honor of Willard B. Simmons, a former executive secretary of the NCPA and a dedicated trustee of the NCPA Foundation, recognizes the profession’s ongoing legacy of excellence. It is presented annually to celebrate a pharmacist who exemplifies exceptional leadership, a commitment to community service, and a strong dedication to independent pharmacy.
After earning his PharmD in 2022 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy, Tripp Logan returned to his hometown of Charleston, Missouri, to work alongside his father, Richard. The Logans have since expanded their operations to include multiple community pharmacies in Southeast Missouri, including SEMO Rx Care Coordination, a center focused on outcomes-based care coordination and medication optimization. SEMO Rx Pharmacies and the SEMO Rx Care Coordination Center are committed to enhancing patient care, with a strong emphasis on health equity, social determinants of health, and achieving positive health outcomes.
For over two decades, Tripp has been a dedicated advocate for innovation in pharmacy practice, contributing to the transformation of independent pharmacies in Missouri and across the nation. He has held various leadership roles, including participation on the Pharmacy Quality Alliance’s measure development team. Additionally, Tripp is a board member of the NCPA Innovation Center and the Community Pharmacy Foundation, a member of the Community Pharmacy Foundation Board, a member of the CPESN® Luminary Expert Council, a CPESN Health Equity Lead Luminary, and a founding member, as well as the current Chief Operating Officer, of Seguridad, Inc. Locally, Tripp serves as Vice President of the Susanna Wesley Family Learning Center Board of Directors and Secretary of the Mississippi County Health Department Board of Trustees.
His previous accolades include the NCPA Outstanding Adherence Practitioner Award (2012) and the Missouri Pharmacy Association’s Excellence in Innovation Award (2019).
